6th November 1900.

We have the honour to inform you that we have recently acquired a very advantageous site in Hongkong and that we purpose building a large Dry Dock thereon as our Adviser, Mr John Scott, C.B. to-day informed Sir William H. White, K.C.B., Chief Constructor. But, before deciding upon its actual dimensions, we would respectfully request that the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty would be pleased to give instructions for us to be advised of the dimensions and of any other particulars, the carrying out of which would result in the Dock being as valuable as it is possible to make it tot the Nation for the purpose of dry-docking the vessels of H.M.Navy stationed in Eastern waters whenever their Lordships may desire to avail themselves of it.

The Secretary of

the Admiralty,

Whitehall, London, S.W.

We have,

&C.

(Ed)

John Swire & Sons.
